Loughcrew is a megalathic Cairn built over 5,000 years ago. The cairn is in allignment with the Autumn and Spring Equinox. Every Equinox people travel from all over the Island to congregate on the hill and pay homage to the ancestors. Sadly the Cairn is currently closed to the public, This image was taken in 2016, at the precise moment where the sun aligned with the portal at the entrance of the tomb to fill the inner chamber with light.
